16 Jan. 1999, Melbourne, Flemmington Racecourse
The whole thing was at the carpark of the Flemmington Racecourse. There were three stages. Two of them were next to each other, so while they are playing on one, they can get ready for the next band on the other. The third one was the local bands' stage. Everyone was about to play half an hour (except Pennywise, they played 40 mins), but they could not keep the thing on time.
The whole thing started ate 11:10, when the Dogbouy started playing. They were very nice. They played a mixture of Punk and Hardcore. Unfortunately I could not listen to them for long, because we were on a new place, and wanted to discover were we arrived, why we payed $42.50. After Dogbouy Latex Generation came. We missed everything of them unfortunately. After them came the Cherry Poppin' Daddies. A very nice ska band, dressed up as if they've just got here from the 30's. After them Mach Pelican started playing. They were quite good, but we did not listen to them for long, because we were tired. But they were good. After them Hepcat came. Hepcat is the band that Rancid took with them to Jamaica for the recording of their album 'Life Won't Wait'. Before they started playing I saw the singer walking around the stage with his hands on his ears... But they started playing soon, and they were very-very good. Maybe it was a bit too soft for me, but still good. After this point came my long moshing. First The Porkers got on stage. They are a very good ska/punk band from Brisbane. They were really good. Just because it was an alcohol-free festival they had to tip the beer onto their own head instead of the crowd during their song called 'Alcohol'. Then came the MxPx. They were really good. I've really enjoyed their production. After them came the band called Less Than Jake. They were very enjoyable too. After them Suicidal Tendencies started playing. I never really liked ST, because it was not my style of music. But their production was very enjoyable, even for a person like me. Then came 22 Jacks. I was a bit tired, and they were not really my type of music (maybe only on the concert). So I've left. I went to the other stage, where one of the best Aussie Punk band was playing, No Idea. They were really good. After them we went to look around at the shops again, because it was less crowded now. So we went there. Meanwhile on the main stage a band from Perth, the Deftones got onto the main stage. When I've heard them asking what to play, a Bad Religion or a Pennywise song, I started running, because I thought BR will win, because they are not here today. They did. So the band started playing the song 'Do What You Want' (album: Suffer). It was very good. But after the song they decided to play the Pennywise too. It was good too. After the came one of the best Aussie bands, Frenzal Rhomb. They've played all their very good and famous songs. During their production someone had brought a rubish-bin into the crowd. At the beginning everyone was climbing onto it, and jumping into the crowd from there. There was a guy (who was a bit drunk, and stined) who was organising the whole thing, and telling the people who is allowed to go on now. After a while we decided to lift the bin up, and throw it over the fence. During the day many times happened that they brought in a boogy-board, and people were surfing on the crowd on them. The best if you can stand up on it. Unfortunately I could not try it... But Frenzal Rhomb finished. I did not know Pennywise before, but a whole lot of my friends (who I know that they like the same type of music I do) like it. So I had high punkish expectations from them. But they were pathetic. They seemed to be a crap HC/Metal mixture. So I moved back, and I was very disappointed. I was too shocked to leave, so I was just standing at the back... Then came Area7. They were really good. Not as good as they were on the PushOver, but still very good. They played only a few songs from the album 'No Logic'. But they were really cool. After them came Grinspoon. THIS WAS A WHOLE LOT OF CRAP!!! But they were the last band, so we were more than happy to leave, and have something to eat before going back to Bendigo.
