Why did I go to this concert? That's a good question. Because I saw that Rancid, and an Aussie punk band will play. So I bought my ticket for AUD$39.85.
We got there half an hour late. When we went in, the band Sek was playing. It was a typical skateboarder band. Not bad, but not the type I would listen to. We were looking around, when some very good punk music hit my ears. What was that? An amateur band, of course. Run there! It was called No Solution. The musicians wore anti-racist t-shirts. They played for 15 minutes. Then we went back to the main stage, where the band 28 days started playing. It is a band between punk and skater. It wasn't bad. Then came the Testeagles. It was a whole lot of crap. A bad hardcore band. Then the GameOver, which was a really good punk band. Then came the Biscuit. It was pretty crap, so we went to the other stage, where the band called Tukan Sam was playing. Four girls. One of them was singing and jumping, sometimes she was playing on the recorder too. We went back to the main stage where the band The Avalanches started playing. IT WAS CRAP. So we went back to the other stage, where the 99 was playing a not too bad country-punk mixture. After them came the Area7, the best Aussie ska band. They were great. After them Nancy Vandal was playing something similar to 99. Then we went to the other stage to mosh a bit while BodyJar is playing. We stayed there for the Frenzal Rhomb too, which was really great. Then we had some look-around time from 6-7. At 7 Jebediah was playing. They were not too good, but not bad either. Then came The Living End. They were really cool. I was nearly killed, because I started the proper European moshing (not this pushing-jumping shit) and some kids did not really like it. They finished at quarter to nine, to introduce 'the best punkband of the world' to us, the RANCID!
At 9:20 Rancid came up with the soundtrack of Star Wars. Lars Fredriksen was in a non-sleeved t-shirt with lots of punk writing on. He had a 15 cm high red mohowk. Tim Armstrong looked like a skater with his hat down to his eyes. But back to music! They started with the song Avenues&Alleyways (Anti-Racist Hymn). Then they played Maxwell Murder, Journey to the End. They also played Timebomb, Roots to Radical, Old Friend and Ruby Soho too. Then they started playing songs of other albums too. They played a very good ska-punk mixture. The croud replied with a skank/mosh thing too, following the music.
After them Voiteck came on stage. They had the mega laser show, which was something like a screensaver. During that techno music was on, with three men, dressed in silver jumping around on stage, it was crap, so we left.
