Beurier Noir

No doubt, the word that describes this group the best is "engaged". Formed back in 1978 like a classic punk rock group, in 1982 it takes a real basic structure: a voice, a guitar and a bossdrum. As the lyrics start getting more importance, it quickly becomes the most important group in the french punk rock movement. The Bérurier Noir (a name inspired by a character of the San Antonio's books, a trash writer) will have a sound as violent as its lyrics. Everything will be said: police, the National Front, the punk and skinhead movements, the forgottens, the hungers, the sects, the psychiatric hospitals, the lab monkeys, the drunks, the mads, the free violence, the anarchy, the society.

The succes will arrive in 1988 and, as for many groups born by the alternative way, this will cause the group splitting. A "programmed suicide" will take place during a three days concert in Olympia (Paris, november 1989), when they recorded their last works, "Viva Bertaga".

The Berurier Noir will let a quite big offspring, like the groups Molodoï, Banlieue Rouge and the Négresses Vertes
